We began this journey in a shoebox-sized building on NE Killingsworth in 2001, and have since grown into a well-established business on NE 42nd in Portland, Oregon. From the beginning, Fitzroy and Aruna have set out to bridge the gaps between their regions and cultures while representing through ingredients those of Africa, the Caribbean, and Latin America.

Over the years, we have made it our goal to build a strong repertoire with customers throughout the Pacific Northwest by sourcing hard-to-find products and providing excellent customer service. We hope to foster a welcoming environment inside our store, where any questions regarding ingredients or recipes can be answered.

Our passion for food and culture is anchored by a supportive community of customers, friends, and local restaurants. As a result of the pandemic and in an effort to support our loyal customer base, we’ve made it our goal to prioritize safety and efficiency by arranging curbside pickup for groceries ordered in advance and shipping small orders. At the moment, we are looking to extend our growing selection of specialty food products and cosmetics to one day have them available nationwide.
